  • I took my darling son to the paediatrician last week for a routine appointment, he had some very minor issues with his kidneys at birth and has a very small head circumference. He has been fine throughout his little life so far, reaching all his developmental milestones (earlier than most) and has no other major health issues. After a very brief examination the paediatrician stated that he had "characteristics of Down Syndrome" and this could only be confirmed or ruled out with a blood test..... I was absolutely gobsmacked, how could a child reach 11 months old without anyone else mentioning this possibility?!?! I'm distraught and feel as if I've let him down by not noticing the things the paediatrician sees in him (which I struggle to see). We have to wait a month for the chromosonal karyotype test to come back...agony! Anyone else know of similar experiences??
